About Me

I bring gentleness, knowledge, and insight to my counselling work. I believe it is a privilege to come alongside people and support them when life seems distressing and challenging.  My work is informed by more than thirty years’ professional experience in supporting adults, young people, children, and families in a range of different roles prior to becoming a psychotherapist.

What I offer

I offer a calm and consistent weekly space to come and talk freely. You might come to see me because you are having negative thoughts, distressing feelings and/or physical pain symptoms that are impacting on the everyday. I am a compassionate and empathetic listener.  I hear what is going on in your life and reflect with you on how you would like things to be different. I am here to come alongside and help you find a way forward when you are ready. I am always concerned about your holistic well-being including your physical well-being, self-esteem and self-confidence.  These are all interwoven with your mental health.

I offer some short-term counselling on specific issues for six or twelve weeks.  I also work in the longer-term by offering open-ended psychotherapy.  This allows individuals to understand themselves better and grow in resilience.  They can develop tools and effective ways to tackle the difficulties and challenges that life brings without feeling overwhelmed.

I also offer what is known as Emotional Freedom Technique (or Tapping). This is a gentle and soothing complimentary treatment that promotes healing and embeds taking therapy.

I work with clients on a wide range of different root issues.  Life events, depression, anxiety, bereavement and trauma often bring people to counselling.  Inner child or unresolved childhood work is often part of therapy.

Training & Qualifications

I have Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling.  My training was across a diverse range of theories, research and ways of practice.  This means I use a range of skills and helpful techniques to best address your individual need.

I have supervision for my work as a professional and ethical requirement and so I continue to learn and develop as a counsellor.  Any material discussed is presented anonymously and remains strictly confidential.  I work in alignment with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) ethical guidelines and am a member of the National Counselling Society.
