About Me

Dr Mirkhani is Consultant Child, Adolescent Psychiatrist working in the NHS and privately. He holds expertise in a range of psychiatric presentations, neuropsychiatry and neurodevelopmental conditions affecting children and young people. Dr Mirkhani had his basic training in psychiatry in South London and Maudsley and started working in the NHS in 2005. He acquired higher training in child and adolescent psychiatry in South West London and St George’s NHS Trust and awarded membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists and by General medical Council is on specialist register as Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

He is a clinician with considerable experience in supporting children, young people and families. His areas of work include diagnosis and management of ADHD, ASD, learning difficulties, OCD, tics disorder, anxiety, depression, conversion disorder, eating disorders and challenging behaviour. His personal interest and experience in treating transcultural aspects of mental health difficulties are highly valuable to clients with complex needs from different socio-cultural backgrounds. His main interest is diagnosis and treatment of clients with neurodevelopmental disorder including Autism, ADHD and tics disorder.

Therapeutic Approach
Dr Mirkhani uses a holistic approach towards any difficulty affecting a family nurturing an understanding of the challenge from a biological, psychological and social model of care. He supports the family analysing the exact nature and how the difficulties can be addressed using environmental, psychological, social and pharmacological strategies if needed.

Dr Mirkhani aims to engage with his patients using a client centred approach. He works with children, young people and parents in a way that acknowledges and validates the difficult experience a family is going through but brings to light the family’s own resilience which propels the desire for recovery.

He follows NICE guideline and evidence based practice in his multi-axial approach and when appropriate, respects a patient’s decision and safety in any pharmacological approaches and prescribing medication.

Dr Mirkhani has a particular interest in transcultural aspects of mental health care. His expertise in assessing clients speaking other languages helps him in this respect. He has been invited as a cultural expert to reputable scientific organisations to assess clients with mental health difficulties.
He is able to assess clients in English/Farsi and French. He is a basic user of British sign language and experienced in working with deaf children and young people with mental health difficulties.

Rates

First assessment (90mins) – Fees £450
Consultations (per hour) – Fees £300
ADHD/ADD assessment and first prescription if patient meets the criteria – Fees £550
Autism Spectrum Disorder, final part of ASD assessment/medical part – Fees £950 (the first part of the assessment, a separate ADOS session needs to be arranged by speech and language therapist or psychologist and paid separately)
Repeat prescriptions: £80 for controlled drugs and £20 for others
